Sugatsune 3Way Adjustable Concealed Hinges Review

UPDATED Jan 2, 2013:  I’ve not got links below to the hinges and touch latches.

Have you ever picked up a piece of nice hardware and smiled?  If so, then you’re an official hardware geek like me!  It seems like Germany and Japan have some really nice hardware manufacturers and Sugatsune is one of my favorites.  Check out their Model # HES3D-190 hinge.

This beefy hinge screams high quality.  It can be found online for about $150 per hinge which isn’t cheap but is so worth the money when you’re doing a hidden door installation.  The touch latch was a bit harder to source but I found it at St Louis Designs here in Austin TX.  The model you want with this big door has 12 lbs of throw and is called “Industrial Touch Latch Magnetic”.  I love hidden doors!  Enjoy the video…  -Matt Risinger

  • I love how you used this hinge for the entry way closet. Thanks for the link to the hinge. But I really would like to know about the Lear jet part and where I could find that online or something similar. I want to use this for a hidden pantry door.

  • @PNWTrillium: Sorry my friend, as James Bond would say “I’d tell you but then I’d have to kill you.” Seriously, that’s a source that we strong armed us into selling us that piece and they aren’t willing to sell to the public. That’s why I make the big bucks as a Custom Builder, it’s because I can source that hard to find piece! Best, Matt
