Potty Talk: Toto Eco Drake Toilet Review

I had a friend email me recently asking my thoughts about toilets, so I thought I’d share my thoughts. First, let me say that I’ve become a raving Toto Toilet fan. I put their Dual Flush Aquia toilets in my hall and guest baths when I remodeled and they are a great toilet that saves water and flushed quite well. My only pet peeve about the Aquia is that it has a low water line and tends to have a dirtier bowl as a result. I put an Eco Drake ADA in my master bathroom and that is now my new favorite model. The ADA designation means it’s a higher & more comfortable adult height toilet. The Eco designation means it uses 20% less water than a standard 1.6 gallon per flush toilet. It uses a mere 1.28 gallons per flush, but you will not have clog issues with this flusher. I’ve really liked mine. My advice is to spend the $50 extra and get the soft close Toto toilet seat. One of life’s little pleasures is not worrying about a slamming seat at 2AM while my wife is snoozing and I just finished feeding the baby. Or, even better upgrade to their washlet seat. I’ll post on that sometime but let me say that I LOVE my washlet! Last comment, if you’re in the City of Austin check their website regarding toilet rebates, they give some great incentives to buy High Effeciency Toilets. Happy Flushing! -Matt Risinger
