My kitchen remodel

Don’t you just love Before/After photos of kitchens? This is my late 70’s kitchen that needed an update. I bought this house last year and took 6 months to completely re-do the whole home. Notice the small changes that make a huge difference in these two photos. The ceiling was brought down to 7′ in old kitchen to make a funky flourescent fixture and just raising that up to 8′ made a huge difference. For your reference, the kitchen sink is just about the same location. It’s tough to tell on this small photo, but my cabinets are Euro-style stained Alder plywood from Green Award Custom Woodworking. I did a dark grey/green concrete countertop with a huge/deep single bowl stainless Kohler Sink. My Kitchen-Aid 5 burner cooktop is in the penisula and I have a pop up down-draft vent so we wouldn’t block the light from the new windows. My floors are 4″ white Oak that was sanded onsite and finished with a clear water based polyurethane by Precision Technology called Nautilus. I’m really happy with this floor finish product as this is my second home I’ve used their product in Matte finish. It’s not a Zero VOC product, but it’s vastly lower than the standard oil based polyurethanes.
Come over for one of my famous Cappuccinos and I’ll give you a tour. -Matt Risinger
